Mark Klugheit

Dick Williams sends this news about Mark Klugheit which he gleaned from the Yale Law Report: “Mark Klugheit continues his second (third?) career as director for Next Stage Theatre Southwest in Tucson, AZ, with very successful 2022 productions of David Ives’s Venus in Fur and Halley Feiffer’s  A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Gynecologic Oncology Unit at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York City.

The latter was both a raunchy/hilarious (and touching) evening of theater and a successful fundraiser for the Arizona Oncology Foundation. Mark writes: ‘This season our company will continue its dive into the edgier realms of theater with Martin McDonagh’s A Behanding in Spokane in July and Neil Labute’s Tony-nominated Reasons to be Pretty in November.  Any Yalies checking out our summer monsoons and balmy winters, please hit me up for comps.”

Dick also reports: “you can see me aboard my new BMW R1250RS careening around the turns of the “Back of the Dragon” with my motorcycle buddies in the mountains of southwestern Virginia at the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1tQZfr2kfRJp4Dx9X7HZQ78HgL3JOh4KN?usp=sharing In this particular sport, I am a “grandpa” cavorting with guys who average about 15 years my junior. I know that I should probably give it up, but it is one of the activities that I still find thrilling.”

Harold Mancusi-Ungaro shares this news: “The Yale School of Medicine is proud to count you, Harold Mancusi-Ungaro Jr., among its graduates and bestows upon you the Distinguished Alumni Service Award. As Secretary, Vice President and eventually President of the Association of Yale Alumni in Medicine, you provided consistent leadership and unstinting support for the best and most beloved traditions of the School. Your service continued as a Delegate to the Yale Alumni Association. On the 50th anniversary of your graduation, those traditions remain strong because of the work you and your colleagues have done to shine a light on the Yale System’s enduring value.” [See related story here.]  Well done, Harold!

Richard Benes

The California Lawyers Association has announced that Richard Benes has been elected to the Appellate Lawyer Hall of Fame: “His 47-year career practicing appellate law in San Diego was launched by service as an extern law clerk for California Supreme Court Justice Stanley Mosk and as a research and writs attorney for the Court of Appeal for the Fourth Appellate District, Division One. After becoming a partner at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, Mr. Benes formed and practiced in his own small firm, Benes & Fiorello, A P.C., and then for many years as a sole practitioner. He was among the first attorneys certified as appellate specialists in 1996 and retired from practice in 2023.” Well done, Richard!
