Like many of us in the spring of 1969, I faced the choice of army, air force, or navy. I chose the Naval Nuclear Power program and spent the next one and a half years training and then three years on the USS Flying Fish (SSN673). It was an amazing experience to participate in operating a technological marvel which we call a nuclear-powered submarine. After separating from active service in December 1973, I attended the Harvard Business School and received my MBA in 1976.

In 1978, I met Frances Gallitano. I married into a large Italian family in 1980 (four sisters and 40 first cousins). Kenneth was born in 1984. Fran was an HR professional while I had various marketing positions in companies related to the computer industry. In 2001 I founded Safe Hydrogen which is an electricity storage company. Fran, Kenneth, and I were able to travel extensively in Europe, the Caribbean, and the US

Fran was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2000. After a long battle, she died in 2005. Kenneth graduated from Connecticut College in 2006. I remarried to Ann Gillespie in 2007. We are living in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Ann has a son, Jay, who lives with his wife, Gabbie, in Manhattan. They married in 2015. He is a cinephotographer and she crunches big data to solve marketing problems. Kenneth married his wife, Meghen, in 2011. They have two children—Leo, aged 7, and Sienna, aged 3. They live in Hingham, Massachusetts.

Ann is one of six children. I have more in-laws than I can keep track of. She retired from Accenture in 2008. We have been able to travel in Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, and North America. We particularly love France and Egypt.

For the future, I plan to keep working on bringing Safe Hydrogen’s storage technology to market. Ann and I will continue to travel and enjoy family and friends.
