Greetings, my follicular-diminished fellow alumni. It has been and interesting journey, these 1,300 hamster-equivalent years. Now, condensed to 500 words or less, we are supposed to recount our history before we become a part of history. First stop: paid outside agitator against the Vietnam War at Syracuse University whence I met my bride of 48 years and counting at the army induction center. Thence to Southern California where I have been a “rambler all up and down the line:” picture framer; big band audio roadie; adult education art teacher; wood sculptor, represented in collections across the country; writer, sold several screen and radio plays (and still actively pursuing the next deal), author of two naval history books, Attack Transport: USS Charles Carroll in World War II, published by University Press of Florida, and Champagne and Cordite: American Yachts in Naval Service, soon to be published by the Glencannon Press; and, for the last several years getting paid to do what I essentially did for free as a child, designing scale model kits and machining the parts masters for Model Expo in Florida. The closest I intend to come to retiring is my wife’s retirement from the practice of family law. We still reside in Southern California with a desert tortoise that could be as chronologically old as I am and a dog that my wife thinks is developmentally older than I am.
