Maxime Derbes, February 13, 2008

Maxime Joseph Derbes, III passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 13, 2008.

He was born December 19, 1947 to the late Kathleen McCoullough and Max J. Derbes, Jr. in New Orleans, LA and has been a resident of Covington since 1960. He graduated from St. Paul’s High School in 1965 where he was student council president for both his junior and senior years. He received his B.A. in Administrative Sciences from Yale University in 1969. He was also captain of the Yale judo team and won the Connecticut State Championship in 1968. Max was a loving and devoted husband of 42 years to Julianne Pott Derbes and is survived by three children: Alexander Benjamin Derbes, Zachary John Derbes, Christina Claire Derbes; one brother, David Stephen Derbes and two grandchildren, Mia Marie Derbes and Max Benjamin Derbes and daughter in law Kelly Marie Derbes. He will remain in their hearts as a great and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather forever.

As President of Max J. Derbes, Inc., his life work was in the Real Estate Industry. He was actively involved in the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, Counselors of Real Estate, CCIM, the Elmwood Business Association and Legatus Northshore. Max won numerous awards over his career in Real Estate, most recently was the top overall industrial agent by volume for 2007 and handled the largest industrial real estate transaction during that year. He was also a parishioner and Eucharistic minister of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
