Reservations Are Ahead of Plan Despite “Online Only” Signup

Editor’s SummaryThe ONLY way to register for the reunion (and on-campus housing) is to go to the Registration Page and sign up.  No snailmail is coming!

The Reunion Committee is delighted with the pace of reservations.  According to the statistics from the Yale Alumni Association, we are running at or ahead of recent Yale Classes and their 50th Reunion attendance registrations.

“Yale decided that online registration was the exclusive way to register this year,” said David Howorth, who is coordinating the College Captains — volunteers from each college who help answer questions and encourage attendance.  “We have heard that some people are waiting for a packet of forms to arrive in the mail, as they have in years past.  But, no!  It won’t happen!  The ONLY way to register for the reunion (and on-campus housing) is to go to the Registration Page and sign up.

Despite any delays caused by this uncertainty, the pace of registration is strong and picking up.   We set records for participation in the Class Survey, and the 50th Reunion ClassBook was truly revolutionary (and now being considered by ’70 and ’71 as a template).  So we might set a record for attendance at the 50th Reunion itself.

“Especially if you want to get the best airfares, you need to get registered very soon and book your travel arrangements,” added Howorth.  “If you haven’t registered, go to the Registration Page now and sign up.  If you have any questions, there’s great information online (here and here), and the YAA staff is super-helpful; just email them at reunions@yale.edu and they’ll get back you within one business day.”

Thursday.  And Sunday.

Reunion co-chair Bill Newman wanted to underscore how strong the Thursday afternoon programs are.  See The Case For Thursday.  Getting your travel done on Thursday, preferably early in the day, will allow you to enjoy these panels and relax at the cocktail reception and casual dinner on Thursday night.

The YAA reports that a strong majority of people registering for the reunion are coming Thursday.

Bill Newman also wants to encourage everyone to stay for the breakfast and Memorial Service on Sunday.  The Memorial Service will be led by classmate The Reverend J. Douglas Ousley, Rector of the Church of the Incarnation in Manhattan, and include a stirring musical presentation by classmate Dick Williams.  We will acknowledge those who have passed, but also commit ourselves to the future we will share together.

The YAA wants to make coming on Thursday and staying thru Sunday as easy as possible, which is why extra days at the reunion don’t cost very much.  AND, if you have already registered for Friday or Saturday and wish to extend your time to Thursday or Sunday, all you have to do is email reunions@yale.edu

In case I haven’t been clear, if you haven’t yet registered, register now!  😉
