Richard MacKay Posthumously Recognized by U.Va Med School

We recently learned that our own Dick MacKay, MD has been awarded the  2022 Humanitarian Award by the U.Va Medical Alumni Association and Medical School Foundation:

Dear Steve, 

On behalf of the University of Virginia Medical Alumni Association and Medical School  Foundation, I have the honor of sharing the news that your classmate, Richard MacKay, MD, has been selected as the recipient of our 2022 Humanitarian Award. This award honors alumni who have provided extraordinary service to society or humanity and recognizes individuals who have dedicated themselves to the compassionate care of the underserved and underprivileged.  

This is a new award being given by the UVA Medical Alumni Association, and we are pleased to  be recognizing Dr. MacKay posthumously for his efforts. Thank you for submitting this nomination. 

An in-person award presentation will take place on the morning of Saturday, April 29, during  2023 Medical School Reunion Weekend. We will be in touch with further details and can discuss who will accept the award on Dr. MacKay’s behalf.
