I know this is the time of life when one spends time reminiscing. Somehow I find my mind more focused on future plans and projects than the past. Perhaps it is my brain losing its ability to recollect although I thought it was supposed to be short-term memory that fails us as we age. But maybe I don’t notice that so much. I will briefly summarize most of the last 50 years:

I practiced emergency medicine and urgent care/family medicine for 39 years, treating more than 150,000 patients. Interestingly the few whom I failed, and in retrospect know I could have saved, stay in my memory most vividly. I have two children, both amazing, Sarah W. and Daniel G. I retired in 2013, selling my practice to a corporate urgent care chain. I am divorced and now engaged. I have been staying busy with non-traditional building projects at my mountain property (most of the time I live in Richmond, Virginia) since retirement.

I look forward to learning from my classmates, wiser than I, the wisdom attained over the years. Meanwhile, I forge ahead—teaching myself how to play the piano, building glass bottle houses, traveling, and trading options.
